I've drawn up two possible configurations that have focal points.  I believe something like the first design was shown in class (the Arc). The second one is another idea I had where I have fixed the probe at a specific point, forcing it to have a focal point.  Thoughts?

  1. I believe the second one is our best bet. Both have conical workspaces but the second one can reach the interior while the first can only reach the exterior of the workspace. I am considering another design that will allow us to use the first but change the angle of insertion. I'll draw it up and post it later. Thoughts?

  2. Hey! I tried commenting on Sunday about this but had trouble getting it on the blog.

I like the first one because it has less joints to consider. The second one is a nice option though. Wasn't too sure what you meant earlier when you mentioned a pivot point but now I know, I can see what you mean.

I think the main thing to keep in mind is our assignment and that we meet it at the basic level. Both would work, but I believe if we chose either we would have to re-draw the rest of the robot. Talk to Professor Popovic first?
